The terms
Effective from the date shown at the bottom. Plain language on purpose.
1. What the service is
Find My Village ("we") provides programmatic access to data from the Local Government Directory published by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India ("LGD"), through an API, a website and related tools ("the service"). The data itself is the Government of India's, made available under the Government Open Data License – India; we do not claim ownership of it. What you pay for is the service: the linking, the checks, the hosting and the support.
2. Your account and keys
You are responsible for keeping your API keys secret and for everything done with them. Rotate a key you suspect is exposed; we can revoke keys we believe are compromised. One account per person or organisation; you must be able to enter a contract under Indian law.
3. Plans, payment and taxes
Paid plans are prepaid for thirty days from activation, in Indian rupees, and renew only when paid again. Prices exclude GST, which is charged on the invoice at the applicable rate. A plan's included calls reset each calendar month; unused calls do not carry over. After a paid period ends there are three days of grace, after which the account falls back to any other active plan or keys stop answering until renewed. Prices are recomputed from our costs from time to time; a period already paid keeps its price. Fees paid are not refunded except where the service was unavailable for more than twenty-four consecutive hours through our fault, in which case we credit that time.
4. Acceptable use
Use the API within your plan's limits and do not try to get around them, share keys between accounts, or resell the raw responses as a competing directory service. You may cache responses and store the data you retrieve in your own systems for your own products. Do not use the service to identify or profile individuals; it contains no personal data and must not be combined to that end.
5. The data, as it is
We serve LGD's data as LGD publishes it, with names in Title Case and with LGD's own contradictions flagged in the response rather than corrected. We do not warrant that it is complete, current or accurate; LGD's export date is stated in every response. You are responsible for how you rely on it.
6. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service available at all times but do not guarantee it. We may change the API with notice; endpoints and fields already documented are not removed within a version. We may suspend an account for breach of these terms, or the service entirely with thirty days' notice and a refund of any unused prepaid period.
7. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
8. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of India; courts at the seller's registered place of business have jurisdiction. Questions: shivamrana0208@gmail.com.
